~Betty White and her dog, Pontiac “Ponti”~
“I speak better animal language than human language. I can read them like a book – although not as well as they can read me…
Now, I also have an age problem. I’m eighty-nine years old. I’ve outgrown my last puppy, but I don’t want Ponti to be my last dog.
I can’t imagine being without animals. And there are so many older dogs that need homes desperately. So that’s where I’ll look, and we can grow older together.
… You’re never too old to adopt a pet if you look ahead and make arrangements for their future. Then relax and enjoy each other.”
~ Betty White
I love Betty White. She is a kind person, a wonderful actress, and has a great heart. People love Betty White because of her humor, but they also love Betty White…just because she’s Betty White.
One of the reasons that makes her so lovable is the way she exudes love. It’s a certain kindness towards the people she works with, the people on the set, and her neighbors around her. You can see that by reading her book. She simply likes people and expresses that everyday.
Now most people who are great at loving people are also great at loving dogs. She sincerely cares about her pets that are like family to her, and encourages us all to adopt and care for these beloved animals.
Dogs are our companions, and they listen to us. They love unconditionally. They follow us, help us, and encourage us with their consistent, sweet demeanors. Whether you have a dog today, or simply just love a pet, may you consider how you can help one in need. Below are two wonderful options we have chosen:
- Get involved with the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SFSPCA). While they are always wanting animals to be taken home, they offer opportunities to volunteer at the shelter, donate to the cause, sponsor an animal, or adopt a new four-legged friend. Volunteer or become a foster home for the SFSPCA here!
- Work with Greenheart Travel, who strives to stabilize the dog population in Hua Hin, Thailand. They mainly focus on controlling the canine population through vaccines, spaying and neutering, and finding homes for strays. Support the cause here!
My favorite is the SFSPCA, and I have just donated $10. I hope you’ll join me.
Thank you for giving to an animal today!
“A dog is the one thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”
