Want to hear an incredible success story with renewable energies? Then watch South Africa!
In a remarkable 4 years, they have become a model for renewable energy all across the world. What is most critical about renewable energy is not just producing it — but to making it cost-effective.
Solar panels are effective. With over 195,000 installations in 2014, nearly 645,000 U.S. homes and businesses have now gone solar and a new solar project was installed every 2.5 minutes. 450 individual school districts could each save more than $1,000,000 over 30 years by installing a solar PV system. But if they are expensive it prohibits many people (and companies) from buying them. Even if you can point to a greater long-term investment, it’s hard for the short-term pocketbook.
So let’s watch South Africa: Prices for wind energy are down 42%; prices for solar energy are down 68%.
Further, their economic council is on board with this program. They realize how impactful it can be… for not just the cities to benefit, but for the rural communities. Many of them have never had access to any type of energy. And now their first energy source is renewable and natural!
How exciting that our world is leapfrogging pollutant energy such as coal. We’re getting people at the bottom of our pyramid the cleanest energy on Earth. Wonderful!!!

Renewable energy is energy that is derived from natural processes (e.g. sunlight and wind) that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed. Solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower, bioenergy and ocean power are sources of renewable energy.
